Fooq's, the Perfect Place for a Date Night

Last week, I was looking for a place for an impromptu date night and stumbled upon this hidden gem called Fooq’s. Fooq's is as homey as you can get. If your home is a perfectly designed Southwestern living room, that is. But it’s cozy. And it’s warm. And its people are the friendliest you'll probably find in a Miami restaurant.

The thing that makes this place special is that it’s welcoming, and upon chatting (and doing a little digging) with owner David Foulquier, I understood why. The concept of the restaurant (and the name) is inspired by the owner’s family home growing up, a place (nicknamed Fooq’s) known for many as a meeting place for nice meals and long conversations. And this very concept was somehow magically incorporated into the restaurant.

But enough about the decor, the ambiance and the vibe. Let’s talk about the food! The owner defines it as international comfort food, a description that I couldn’t agree more with. Take the bucatini for example, made perfectly al dente with amatriciana sauce and sicilian chile flakes. On your first bite, you can already tell this is a dish that was made with love, a family recipe that was probably mastered and perfected throughout the years and passed down like gold from generation to generation... or um, at least that’s what it tasted like to me! ;)

As for dessert, the Persian Sundae is an absolute must. This beautifully presented sweet dish consists of the unusual combination of rosewater and saffron gelato, which is made by a Midtown's Latteria Italiana. I had never had such a thing in my life, and let me tell you, I’m hooked.

Whether you are looking to have a cozy romantic dinner date, or to enjoy one of those nice, long dinners with friends over wine and conversation, you have to put Fooq’s on your list. I am sure you will love it as well!

Not a bad wine list ;)
Each meal at Fooq's starts with a tartine of the day... in this case, it consisted of Zack the Baker toast, covered with sweet goat cheese, honey and a delicate slice of dried fig

Fooq's already famous bucatini alla amatriciana. If you have to try just one thing out of their menu, this is it.
Can't get enough of these bucatini!
Easy on the eye and delicious, the Persian Sunday is the perfect way to end your meal at Fooq's

Fooq's is located at 1035 N Miami Ave, Miami FL.
